Farm Named in Recent Romaine Lettuce E. coli Outbreak Recalls More Produce
Adam Bros. Farming, Inc. has been discovered as the source of the romaine lettuce E. coli outbreak. More products have since been discovered to be contaminated. This time, it’s not only romaine lettuce but also cauliflower.
On December 13, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) named Adam Bros. Farming, Inc. as one of the sources of romaine lettuce E. coli outbreak. Additionally, as officials have discovered, romaine lettuce is not the only contaminated product at this facility.
According to the company’s post on the FDA website, Adam Bros. Farming, Inc is also recalling red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, and cauliflower. These forms of produce were harvested on November 27 through November 30, 2018.
While there has been no confirmation of the outbreak strain E. Coli O157:H7 in the newly recalled products, the company initiated the recall out of an “abundance of caution”.
E. coliO157:H7 can cause bloody diarrhea and kidney failure in children and the elderly.
The company has asked customers not to consume, sell, or transfer the product. Also, company officials have urged customers to notify the downline chain of custody to ensure a full recovery.

Federal officials detected E. coli O157:H7 in sediment from a reservoir near where the produce was grown. This triggered the current recall.
Company officials suspect filtered and treated water from the reservoir may have been exposed to the produce after it was harvested. They also said sample from filtered and treated water tested negative for the bacteria.
The company is working with federal officials to resolve the issue. Notably, it has stopped shipping romaine lettuce starting from November 20.
